Phil Spector's Request for New Trial Rejected by California Supreme Court

The 71-year-old record producer is serving a 19-year-to-life term in the death of actress Lana Clarkson, who worked on the Sunset Strip.

The California Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to review Phil Spector's case, reports City News Service.

Spector, 71, was sentenced to 19 years to life for the 2003 murder of 40-year-old actress Lana Clarkson. The VIP hostess at the  on the Sunset Strip met Spector hours before her death.

First tried in 2007, Spector was tried again in 2009 and convicted by a Los Angeles County Superior Court jury of second-degree murder.

Three months ago, Spector's lawyers urged a three-judge panel of California's 2nd District Court of Appeal to grant the imprisoned music producer a new trial and reverse his 2009 murder conviction. The court upheld the ruling Wednesday, saying Spector received a fair trial.
