Sunset Strip Market Opens 2013 Season

The outdoor marketplace happens Thursday evenings through October.

The Sunset Strip Market began its seasonal run Thursday in West Hollywood.

Farmers, artisans and crafters of beer and wine present their goods on the Sunset Strip every Thursday evening through October. Here are the schedule details:

Where: The city-owned parking lot at 8755 Sunset Blvd

When: Thursdays, 6-10 p.m., from May through October

Parking: $5 with validation at nearby participating lots

“Since our initial launch last year, the response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are excited to once again welcome neighbors and guests to this weekly, seasonal Thursday night Market,” Todd Steadman, executive director of Sunset Strip Business Association, said in a posting on the city's website. “The extended summer hours take advantage of the increased sunlight and warmer weather and ensure that guests have ample time to shop, dine and interact with each other after work.” ...

New arrivals at the market include:

  • Denny's Organic Farm from Nipoma, CA, offers organic strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, asparagus, artichokes and other vegetables in addition to freshly made organic juices.
  • Hepp’s Salt based in Venice, CA makes gourmet salts.
  • enFuso from Los Alamitos creates specialty balsamics.
  • Bomba Paella provides the authentic open-fire Spanish and Caribbean delicacy 
  • T's California BBQ brings farm-to-table Santa Maria-style barbecue.

There are also many returning farms and vendors:

  • Ari's Natural Food: natural and homemade hummus, Greek yogurt, tzatziki and more
  • Canela Empanadas: freshly made vegetarian and meat empanadas
  • Cuyama Orchards: organic apples
  • Dairy Goddess: farmstead milk, chocolate milk and cheese
  • Dave’s Gourmet Korean: kimchi; tempeh, tofu, spring rolls, teas and more
  • Gourmet Crepes: fresh, made to order sweet and savory crepes
  • Gourmet Grillmaster Rotisserie Chicken: specialty rotisserie chicken with roasted garlic potatoes
  • Janae’s Fillets: fresh-caught, wild Alaskan salmon
  • Kosher Palate: locally sourced, sustainably grown and ethically produced natural, organic and whole ingredients made under the strict supervision of the Rabbinical Council of California
  • Marsatta chocolate: artisinal bean to bar chocolate, truffles and chocolate dipped strawberries
  • Milkman: California farmstead cheeses
  • Moist N Creamy: cakes and baked goods
  • Old Village Bakery: fresh bread and baked goods
  • Shear Rock Farm: heirloom tomatoes, baby greens and olive oil
  • Shuck’s Oyster Bar: California oysters shucked at the market or to take home for later
  • Smart Fish: sustainable fish and seafood
  • Soledad Goats: farmstead goat cheese from Mojave
  • Summer Harvest: organic cherries, peaches, plums and nectarines
  • Suncoast Farms: asparagus, artichokes and beans (pinquitos, yellow beans, lima beans and lentils)
  • The Belgian Fry Shack: Belgian-style fries with dipping sauce
