Silver Spoon Is Down to the Studs

Demolition crews have been tearing down the building which housed the Silver Spoon diner for the past month. It's now down to just the structural supports and will be rebuilt completely.

City Hall’s planning department reports the restaurant will now be rebuilt in what is considered a “remodel” since the basic structural supports will remain in place.

The diner at 8171 Santa Monica Blvd has been a Weho staple since 1965 when it opened as Theodore's. The name changed to the Silver Spoon in 1987. The restaurant was a famous hangout for actors including

According to a public notice in the window at the time of the closing, the restaurant will reopen as “Connie and Ted’s.” A report released by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control said the business has been sold to Chef Michael Cimarusti of the Melrose seafood restaurant Providence and Claim Jumper founder Craig Nickoloff.
