In Former Cat Club, Rock & Reilly's Is Born

The Sunset Strip has a new watering hole. The Irish pub with attitude has taken over the former dive bar at 8911 W. Sunset Blvd.

Rock & Reilly's, a self-proclaimed "Irish bar with personality," is fast becoming a West Hollywood drinking destination.

Formerly dive bar, and even before that, the Jim Morrison hangout London Fog, 8911 Sunset Blvd. now bares brick walls, animal heads and a mahogany bar, with 14 flat screens and 150 seats, plus a private backyard deck.

The menu features staples with a twist, like the Reilly burger with garlic aioli on a brioche bun ($12) or Irish nachos with peppered bacon and corn salsa ($9), but in keeping with tradition, the emphasis is on whisky.

In fact, the pub stocks 45 different kinds of the Irish spirit. There are also beer flights, libations and 13 different brews, ranging from Bud Light ($5) to Reilly's Chocolate Milk—a half pint of Guinness with a 50/50 shot of Bushmill's and Bailey's on the side ($14).

Rock & Reilly's already has an average of four stars on Yelp. Reviews highlight the drink selection, but also note the booming rock music. "The music was extremely loud for an afternoon, but I did like the selection and it was very fitting for the scene (pure rock)," said Katie B. from Los Angeles.

R&R is open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. The closest parking lot is on Clark Street for $10.
