Buttercake Bakery Closes in Sunset Plaza

The sunny little cakery has seen its last day in West Hollywood.

West Hollywood cupcake junkies are mourning the loss of . The rosy patisserie tucked inside Sunset Plaza has unexpectedly announced its closure.

The Weho location was a sweet repose for locals craving bittersweet lemon bars and criss-cross peanut butter cookies, bundt cakes, creamy cheesecakes and German chocolate cakes, cupcakes, even mini-cupcakes—all baked to perfection.

A sign posted on Buttercake's door Monday read: "Dear Sweet Tooths, Thank you for your local patronage. You can still find us at our West LA location. 10595 W. Pico Blvd. 310-470-6770 We hope to see you soon!"

Inside, the small white-walled space was empty. The bookshelves containing the usual dessert-shaped purses and pens, paperbacks and platters were bare.

An employee at Chin Chin next door confirmed that the bakery had shut down, but could not give Patch an exact date. The West L.A. location was closed for business, and therefore no one was available for comment.
