Here Lounge, a West Hollywood gay bar located at 696 N. Robertson Blvd., is facing penalties from the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control for allegations of lewd conduct by go-go dancers, according to the San Diego Gay and Lesbian News.

The bar closed last week under order of the ABC department and cannot reopen until Jan. 1, 2014.

The following was posted to Here's Facebook page: "We appreciate the support from everyone online and those of you with criticism we appreciate the feedback. We are taking this time to improve our property, nights and level of customer service. We look forward to seeing all of you celebrate with us when we reopen January 3rd."

The Here suspension and fines against Mickys at 8857 Santa Monica Blvd.  prompted the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to convene a meeting between bar owners and ABC representatives last month, according to WEHOville

Why does ABC care? The performers are happy to be there, the customers are happy to be there, no one is being hurt, there is no threat to public safety, female dancers do it all the time at straight clubs, hetero customers at straight clubs expose private parts and engage other hetero customers in play, ............ why does anyone care if a performer shows his penis to a group of people who want to see it?

Darrell, it's against the law. And at straight bars, they can't show genitals. Strip clubs can't sell alcohol. On top less bars can.
