Wednesday's Scoop: Seven Sculptures Coming to Santa Monica Boulevard

The abstract monumental-scale sculptures will be featured on the boulevard through June 2012.

Greetings, and welcome to today's City Scoop. Here's what's happening Wednesday in West Hollywood:

Main Event: Elemental Sculpture Exhibit 

Beginning today, the grassy median of Santa Monica Boulevard between Doheny Drive and Almont Drive will house seven large-scale public art sculptures from world-renowned contemporary artists as part of the City of West Hollywood's Art on the Outside Program. An opening reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the exhibit.

Other Happenings:

  • The city's Transportation Commission meets at 7 p.m. in the Community Conference Room. Read the full agenda here.
  • hosts Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman-turned-author Corey Taylor at 7 p.m. Taylor dishes about fame, wealth and morality in his new memoir, Seven Deadly Sins: Settling the Argument Between Born Bad and Damaged Good.
  • Over at the ,  will be signing and discussing his book, The Bowl of Light: Ancestral Wisdom from a Hawaiian Shaman, at 7:30 p.m.

  • The National Weather Service predicts a sunny forecast, with a high near 91 and a low around 63, with calm wind becoming south southwest between 5 and 10 miles per hour.
