Thursday's Scoop: Tastemakers to Converge at La Cienega Design Walk

A three-day celebration of Los Angeles's legendary design district.

La Cienega Honors Legendary Artists

More than 10,000 designers and enthusiasts will make their way to the La Cienega strip between Santa Monica and Beverly boulevards for two days of cocktail parties, book-signings, trunk shows and special exhibitions, otherwise known as the 2011 Legends of La Cienega. Key highlights this year include a legendary window display campaign and a panel discussion on "Extra-Sensory Design," moderated by The Huffington Post Arts Editor Kimberly Brooks. The majority of the event programs are free and open to the public. 

Diane Farr Comes to Book Soup

The actress and magazine writer will present and sign copies of Kissing Outside the Lines: A True Story of Love and Race and Happily Ever After at 7 p.m. The book recounts Farr's experience dating, marrying, and creating a family with someone from a race and culture different from her own. Kissing Outside the Lines can be purchased on the Book Soup website for $24.95. 

International ALMS Conference Archives LGBT History

The city of West Hollywood is co-sponsoring the LGBT Archives, Libraries, Museums and Special Collections Conference at Plummer Park from Thursday at 4 p.m. for check in through Sunday at 11:30 a.m. Activist Cleve Jones and respected scholar Lillian Faderman will speak. Anyone can register to attend the conference. Prices range from $25 for students to a $100 daily rate.

Performing Arts and Cultural Affairs Subcommittee Meeting

The Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission subcommittee meets at 5 p.m. in the Community Conference Room at to discuss several projects, including the 2012 Arts Grant Program, Summer Sounds, The Big Read, Pride Month, and the New West Hollywood Library Program.
