Rapper Arrested in Weho to Meet with Probation Officer

A lawyer for T.I. says the performer is headed to Atlanta where he may be ordered to appear before the judge who signed off on his probation on a gun conviction.

Rapper T.I., who was arrested in West Hollywood on Wednesday on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, is headed to Atlanta to meet with his probation officer and perhaps appear before the federal judge who approved his probation, the performer's lawyer told the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

T.I is on probation after serving time in prison for a felony gun conviction.

The 29-year-old rapper and actor, who co-stars in the current box office hit Takers, was stopped by West Hollywood Sheriff's deputies at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at 9255 Sunset Boulevard for making an illegal U-turn.

"During the course of the traffic stop, deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle," according to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department incident report.

A narcotics investigation ensued and the rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris, and his wife, Tameka Cottle 35, were found to be possession of pills resembling Ecstacy, according to Nicole Nishida, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau. The pills are now being tested.

The couple were booked on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, and after posting $10,000 bail each were released from the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station at 4 a.m. Thursday.

The couple are scheduled to appear at the Beverly Hills Courthouse sometime in November, according to Nishida.
