The following is a press release from the City of West Hollywood.

The City of West Hollywood through its Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission in collaboration with KMP Artists Management, Inc., presents “Author, Author Michael Childers: A Photographic Retrospective of Authors, Playwrights & Screen Writers” at the West Hollywood Library, 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard. The photography exhibit is free, and runs from Saturday, September 1, 2012 through Saturday, October 6, 2012. It can be viewed at the West Hollywood Library during its regular business hours: Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. through 6 p.m.

The West Hollywood Library Fund, in conjunction with the West Hollywood Library exhibition of “Author Author,” will host a lecture and reception with Childers at the West Hollywood Library, Community Room, on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A moderated by Gordon Baldwin, former associate curator of photography at the Getty Museum. The event will kick off the 11th Annual West Hollywood Book Fair to be held Sunday, September 30, 2012.

Childers is known for his fine art photographs of legendary movie stars, artists and other iconic luminaries that first graced the cover of Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine and After Dark Magazine. As founding photographer for that publication, Childers guided it to its place as a unique documentation of his life’s personal friends during his many years in Hollywood, a time he shared with his life partner, the late director John Schlesinger.

Tickets for the lecture and reception are $40 (general seating) and $250 (preferred seating with name in the event program). For tickets and more information, please call (323) 469-1871 or visit http://weholibraryfund.org/getinvolved/news-and-updates/Childers
