Outfest Sunday: Last Day of LGBT Film Festival

Six programs are scheduled today at the annual LGBT film festival including the Closing Night film "Struck by Lightning" written by and starring Chris Colfer ("Glee") as an unhappy high school student.

Six programs are on tap for Outfest’s eleventh and final day. The annual gay and lesbian film festival has kept movie-lovers busy catching up with the latest offerings of documentaries, drama, comedies and shorts.

Today’s programs are being held at two venues:

  • Directors Guild of America (DGA) theatre (7920 Sunset Blvd. at Fairfax Avenue)
  • John Anson Ford Amphitheatre (2580 Cahuenga Blvd.)

A complete directory of the films offered is available on the Outfest website, but below is a quick rundown of some of the best playing today:

Happy Endings Panel – cast and crew from the ABC sitcom “Happy Endings” talk about the show (1 p.m., DGA 1).

Beauty – South African drama about a married family man with a secret gay life who becomes obsessed with his best friend’s grown son. (2:45 p.m., DGA 2).

Yossi – Israeli drama about a repressed doctor whose life changes when he meets a self-confident openly gay man (3 p.m., DGA 1).

Struck by Lightning – black comedy about a small-town high-school student from a dysfunctional family who dreams of a bigger life, starring Chris Colfer, Allison Janney, Dermot Mulroney and Christina Hendricks (8 p.m., Ford Amphitheater).
