Friday's Scoop: Women's Leadership Conference Kick-Off Event at Pacific Design Center

Greetings, and welcome to today's City Scoop. Here's what's happening Friday in West Hollywood:

Themed "Unlimited Opportunities -- Knowledge. Power. Community," the sixth annual event kicks off in the Pacific Design Center's Silver Screen Theatre, 8687 Melrose Ave. with a screening of documentary film Miss Representation followed by a panel discussion and a "Call to Action" reception from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Panelists include film and television producer Bonnie Bruckheimer, blogger Elline Lipkin and "The Curvy Fashionista" Marie Denee. The event concludes Saturday.

Head over to the Viper Room this evening for Friday The 13th Part II. Blogger Brent Mendoza writes: "Thwart the unluckiest day of the year as you party down with Arnold Schwarzenegger metal tribute band Schwarzenator, Beelzebubba, Art of Shock and the sexy strip tease vixens known as The Sugar Club." Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are only $10. Ages 21 and older.

The Forecast

The National Weather Service forecasts showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11 a.m. Temperatures are expected to reach near 61, dropping a low around 47. Expect breezy weather in West Hollywood, winds gusting as high as 30 miles per hour.
