From the solitude of a darkroom in his family's garage to the cinematic approach of his current work, Crash captures Los Angeles from the perspective of someone who has seen the city from a homeless existence of drugs and love - to one of vacant ambivalence and guiltless lust. Each image from The First One is Always Free is formed from a daily search for pleasure and recognition of his city of choice, Los Angeles.
