"Our Story Goes On..." - A New Cabaret from Steve Masterson at the Gardenia - Two Nights Only

Steve Masterson is thrilled to be back once again at Tom Rolla’s Gardenia Supper Club in Los Angeles with a brand new show entitled “Our Story Goes On…” In this alternately Broadway-brassy and intimately touching review, Steve will share songs and stories of his own move, as a teenager, to the Big Apple in 1973! These memories will be contrasted with the cabaret debut of a young, dynamic musical actress, Jessica Ruane, who recently moved to NYC, as Steve did almost 40 years ago, to pursue her dreams. Yes indeed, this is a story that goes on, and on, and on. With music director extraordinaire, Bill Newlin, you won't want to miss this delightful evening of good, old-fashioned, heartfelt cabaret!!!

Steve has performed in musical theater and cabaret since the age of twelve, when he made his stage debut in the Chicago production of "Oliver." He has since acted and sung in plays and musicals in New York, in regional theater and summer stock, as well as on television, in films, and in commercials. Steve is a graduate of UCLA's School of Theater where he played leading roles in several main stage productions at the University's Freud Playhouse in Westwood.

For the past 20 years, Steve has focused primarily on developing his cabaret performances as his priorities shifted with the necessity of earning a steady paycheck and his day job grew into a career. Still, he has performed his one-man show "With a Song in My Heart" at leading night clubs across the country including the Cinegrill in Los Angeles and the Plush Room in San Francisco. He also notably teamed with new-age pianist James Mathews for a series of concerts entitled "Meditation/Celebration" which were performed at venues such as the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City.   Steve recently co-starred in the award-winning short film, “Pride” alongside Golden Globe nominee Susan Blakely and “NCIS” fan favorite Pauley Perrette among others.  Steve has been receiving much acclaim for his work in the film as it has been playing at film festivals across the country.   “Pride” will be available on DVD later this year as part of a collection of award-winning short films.

With Steve’s acting talents back on display, the timing couldn’t be better for a return engagement to the Gardenia.  It’s also only fitting that Steve use this opportunity to lend a helping hand up the ladder to a young performer just starting out in show business.  Having known Jessica Ruane and her parents for many years, Steve has watched Jessica grow and develop into the accomplished musical-comedy dynamo who he will be happily sharing the stage with both Friday and Saturday nights, July 27 and 28 at 9:00pm.  Reservations are required to attend.  The Gardenia has a $15 cover / 2 drink minimum.  Dinner is available from 7:00pm.  To make reservations for either dinner & the show or just drinks & the show, please call the Gardenia at (323) 467-7444.
