Barney's Beanery to Host 'Barter Show' Reprise

Weho's venerable roadhouse brings back Ed Kienholz's 43-year-old 'Barter Show,' featuring 21 works of art.

Come Tuesday, 21 different works of contemporary art will cover the walls of . It is all part of a unique bartering event to pay tribute to American installation artist Ed Kienholz.

Art enthusists are encouraged to view the Perpetual Conceptual exhibition currently on display in consecutive storefronts at 8126-8132 Santa Monica Blvd., then bring their unqiue items to be bartered to Barney's Beanery Tuesday between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Kienholz’s original Barter Show was held 43 years ago at the Eugenia Butler Gallery on La Cienega Boulevard. Then, accepted bartering items at the one-of-a-kind art auction included trading horses for watercolors.

“In the spirit of Kienholz, we hope to see some unique items being traded once again,” said Andrew Campbell, cultural affairs administrator for the City of West Hollywood, in a statement.

The event is presented by Los Angeles Nomadic Division (LAND) and Corazon del Sol, gallerist Eugenia Butler Sr.’s granddaughter, as part of the City of West Hollywood’s .
