APLA Oscar Party Puts It Over $1 Million Mark for Fundraising
The AIDS Project L.A. event draws celebrities, fans and locals to have fun and raise money for a great cause.
The Abbey in West Hollywood played host to more than 200 guests on Oscar night as part of the 10th Annual AIDS Project L.A. viewing party. The star-studded event drew celebrities, fans and locals who came together to have a great night of fun and entertainment and raise funds for a great cause.
Laughter filled the room as actors Anne Hathaway and James Franco hosted the awards show, which was shown on plasma screens facing every direction inside .
The red carpet was rolled out for "The Envelope Please," APLA’s signature Oscar viewing event. The event is a growing tradition among West Hollywood VIPs that was launched with the help of entrepreneur and Abbey founder David Cooley 10 years ago.

Tickets for the event were given names honoring this year's Oscar-nominated films such as Black Swan, The Social Network and Oscar winner for best picture The King's Speech. Individual tickets were sold for $500 and a VIP table for 12 people at $10,000. All available seats and VIP tables were sold.
“We have been working hard over the course of the past 10 years to raise money for APLA and with so many new supporters this year's Oscar benefit helped put us over the top,” said event planner Brian Rosman. “We’ve [now raised] over 1 million for APLA with tonight’s very special Oscar viewing event.”

Supporters attending the event included West Hollywood Mayor and Councilwomen and .
The celebrity guests included actors Pauley Perrette (NCIS), Stephanie Pratt (The Hills) and Marisa Ramirez of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena.
Next door to The Abbey, Tom Whitman, club promoter and chair for APLA's board of directors, was raising money for the national LGBT scholarship Point Foundation. Whitman hosted a bar with hors d’oeuvres for a $10 donation.
