Women's Equality Day Celebration Planned in West Hollywood

Singer Helen Reddy will be honored as part of the occasion.

Women's Equality Day will be celebrated in West Hollywood this month with a salute to singer Helen Reddy.

Guest speakers, film shorts and a special performance of “I am Woman” by keynote speaker Helen Reddy are scheduled to be part of the evening. Aside from her number one hit song which earned a Grammy Award, Reddy is also known for her service as a former Commissioner of Parks and Recreation for the State of California.

As part of the evening’s festivities, Reddy, along with the United States Postal Service and artist Nicolosi will unveil a pictorial postmark and envelope, with their autographs, which will be available for people to purchase.

The event, “A Night In Herstory,” will also celebrate the City of West Hollywood’s Women’s Advisory Board's 20 years of service to the community. It will commemorate the 93rd anniversary of the 19th Amendment which gave women the right to vote as well.

The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26, at the West Hollywood Park Public Meeting Room Council Chambers and Auto Court located at 625 North San Vicente Blvd.
