Last month, Los Angeles City Councilman Tom LaBonge introduced a motion that asks city departments to consider banning non-commercial food distribution in public rights of way. The move would force the Greater West Hollywood Food Coalition to stop distributing free food to the homeless at the corner of Sycamore Avenue and Romaine Street, which is in Hollywood near the border with West Hollywood. The organization has been giving out food at the location for 25 years, according to its website.
