Weho Alliance Tours Historic Hollywood

Visit vintage properties frequented by stars of classic Hollywood this weekend.

West Hollywood's historic preservation organization offers a walking tour starting Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. of the Fountain Avenue Thematic Courtyard District in West Hollywood.

"The tour presents a window into the Golden Age of Hollywood and America," said tour guide Roy Rogers Oldenkamp of the West Hollywood Preservation Alliance. "As in The Great Gatsby, we see a time when the middle class and wealthy were rolling in money, the Roaring '20s. We'll stop by stunning architectural masterworks, and see how development can enhance or erode the quality of life in our Creative City."

The tour also centers on "the many movie stars, directors and current stars who live and lived on these illustrious streets, from Dorothy Dandridge to Marilyn Monroe to Chris Brown," Oldenkamp said.
