Wednesday's Scoop: Bicycle Task Force Meets Today

The 20-member task force created in January is charged with figuring out ways to make West Hollywood more bicycle friendly.

Greetings, and welcome to today's City Scoop. Here's what's happening Wednesday in West Hollywood:

Main Event: Bicycle Task Force Meeting

New business includes presentations by LADOT Bicycle Outreach and Planning Sr. Project Coordinator Michelle Mowery and La County Sheriff's Deputy Ken Yanecko. Each of the task force’s three subcommittees presented to the task force as a whole early last month, with a top priority to create bike lanes along Fountain Avenue, San Vicente Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard.

Other Happenings: 

  • The city's Transgender Advisory Board meets today at 7 p.m. in the Rent Stabilization Hearings Room. The board will swear in new members, discuss the Day of Remembrance and a joint session with LGAB. Read the full agenda here
  • Jillian Lauren, author of the New York Times bestselling author of Some Girls, will discuss and sign copies of her latest book, Pretty: A Novel, at . The event begins at 7 p.m. Purchase Pretty for $15.

The Forecast:

  • Temperatures are expected to hover near triple digits for the next few days, and rain and thunderstorms are possible, according to an alert from the National Weather Service. The high will be near 106 today, dropping to 66.
