Tuesday's Scoop: Hanukkah Parade in Nearby Melrose Village

The community just outside Weho's borders is celebrating the final night of the Jewish holiday with a parade.

Greetings, and welcome to today's City Scoop. Here's what's happening Tuesday in West Hollywood:

Chanukah Parade

Melrose Village Blog reports the Chanukah Parade will start at 6:30 p.m. on Waring Avenue at Alta Vista Boulevard, travel south on Alta Vista to Melrose Avenue, west on Melrose to Fairfax Avenue, then south to Beverly Boulevard, west to La Cienega Boulevard, and back east for a distance on Third Street. The entire event is expected to last until 8 p.m. The blog estimates around 80 vehicles participating, with rolling street closures.

Christmas Tree Recycling

The city of West Hollywood will offer free tree pickup for recycling through Jan. 14. Place your tree at the curb for collection on your regular trash day. Remove all decorative trimmings and the tree's base. Do not place the tree in a plastic bag, as this can prevent it from being picked up.

East Side Committee Meeting Canceled

The regularly scheduled East Side Project Advisory Committee meeting set for 6:30 p.m. in Plummer Park has been canceled, according to the city's calendar. At the East Side PAC meeting on Dec. 7, its first since August, the to request the opportunity to review and make comments on Plummer Park's $41 million redesign at its next meeting.

The Forecast:

The National Weather Service forecasts sunny weather, with calm wind and clear skies. Temperatures in West Hollywood will reach a high near 69 degrees during the day, and drop to around 47 degrees by evening.
