Sunday's Scoop: 30,000 Expected in Weho for AIDS Walk LA

The largest AIDS fundraising event in the country kicks off in West Hollywood Park at 9:15 a.m. Expect traffic and some familiar faces.

Greetings, and welcome to today's City Scoop. Here's what's happening Sunday in West Hollywood:

Main Event: AIDS Walk L.A.

About 30,000 participants are expected to make their way to West Hollywood today. The 6.2-mile route will kick off in at 9:15 a.m. The walk begins at 10 a.m., travels south on La Cienega Boulevard, east on Melrose Avenue, south on La Brea Avenue and west on Beverly Boulevard, heading north on San Vicente Boulevard to return to the park. Other Happenings:

  • Today is the last day to see highlights from the Elizabeth Taylor Auction Preview at MOCA's . On view is Taylor's 33-carat rectangular-cut diamond from two-time husband Richard Burton, now estimated at between $2.5 and $3.5 million, and personal works from artist-admirers such as Andy Warhol.
  • Photojournalist Rose Eichenbaum will discuss and sign copies of her third work, The Actor Within: Intimate Conversations with Great Actors, at . The event kicks off at 4 p.m. Book costs $30.

The Forecast:

  • West Hollywood is expected to see patchy fog before 11 a.m., otherwise, cloudy through mid-morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 79, reports the National Weather Service. Temperatures will drop in the evening to around 60 with partly cloudy skies.
