Saturday's Scoop: Block Party at The Hudson

A portion of the proceeds from this event will go toward funding the new West Hollywood library.

Greetings, and welcome to today's City Scoop. Here's what's happening Saturday in West Hollywood:

Main Event: The Hudson Block Party

The 10-hour event is being co-sponsored by the City of West Hollywood and the Chamber of Commerce, and will showcase seven local bands, three DJs, 20 vendor booths, along with several charities. Baby Blues BBQ, The Churchill, Intelligentsia, and several local businesses will be providing free samples. Lab Art Gallery artists will showcase their street art. Tickets cost $10. The block party runs from 1 p.m. until 11 p.m. at 1114 N. Crescent Heights Blvd.

Runner-Up: SSMF Week Kickoff Pool Party

A gaggle of Sunset Strip venues, including The Roxy Theatre, Comedy Store, House of Blues and Key Club, are celebrating the upcoming music festival on The Standard’s pool deck from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy giveaways, drinks and entertainment provided by Cowboys & Indians, Rusty Maples and special guest John Bennett. The event is guest list only and space is limited, so RSVP to hollywoodrsvp@standardhotel.com soon.

Other Happenings:

  • Pet Adoption Day will be held at in West Hollywood, 8330 W. Santa Monica Blvd., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will focus on pet adoptions, educational outreach and information on pet licensing. For more information, call 818-377-6494.

The Forecast:

  • The National Weather Service predicts patchy fog before 11 a.m., gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 86. The temperature will drop to around 62, with clouds.
