Too bad Hudson's party is not a benefit to save the original Fickett Library at WH Park rather than the ill conceived and marginally designed Lie-brary. Now that would be an event worth celebrating not the erasure of thoughtfully designed award winning aspects of our city.

It's sad to have a community abandon the cultural heritage of what the FIckett Library has meant to the community of the past several decades. To celebrate the new Library knowing the old Fickett Library is scheduled for demolition is somewhat an oversight by the community as the City has muscled it's way into making people "believe" their vision is exact. The only things from the past that need to be demolished is Heilman and Land. I love the Russian community. They now have me to advocate on behalf of the group. Watchful eyes are now upon the City folks. Make sure to come out to Monday's Council meeting to speak your mind on adaption of the Fickett structure. Say no to demo.

WH seems to personify "the worst cases of cosmetic surgery category". This applies not only to buildings but also to residents. The slight of hand utilized in the erasure of buildings at some time becomes visible to the public. Erasure of the residents is a far more serious and insidious affair as the mantle of "protection of rent stabilization" is regularly undermined and the banner of the Housing Corporation is flown to the rescue. Many human lives either fall through the cracks or are permanently impaired. Bait and switch, slight of hand and further iterations of the same have no place in this small city which could be excellent in all endeavors. Stop gaming the system. It's so easy to get it right and everyone benefits.
