Russian Style Festival Wraps Up Sunday in Plummer Park

The 12th Annual Russian Style Festival is a chance for residents and those living in the greater Los Angeles area to enjoy the rich cultural and ethnic flavor of the Russian-speaking community. Presented by the City of West Hollywood and the Russian Advisory Board, and co-sponsored by Doheny LLC, this year’s Russian Style Festival will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Plummer Park, 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard.

During the 12th Annual Russian Style Festival, the Royal Basketball School will present its program at the basketball court in Plummer Park from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There will be a basketball game between Royal Basketball players, as well as a shooting contest. A DJ will play music during the game. From 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the main stage at the Russian Style Festival, a fashion show by Balizza Fashion Boutique will take place. From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Club “Znatoki,” one of the oldest operating Russian-speaking clubs in Los Angeles, will present the famous Russian Game of “What? Where? When?” in Room 5 of the Community Room at Plummer Park.

The 12th Annual Russian Style Festival will feature the Puppet Theater on Wheels with two special performances of popular fairy tales, where children will have the opportunity to experience an original, classical puppet theater. The Aikido Academy of Los Angeles will showcase their martial arts techniques and attendees will have the opportunity to win free aikido classes and aikido t-shirts. In addition, the Golden Key Art Studio will present a children’s art exhibit.

An Exhibition of Wooden Sculptures by Leonty Usov will be on display at the Great Hall in Plummer Park, 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard, on Sunday, May 19, 2013, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Usov is world-renown for his sculptures, and this exhibition of his Hollywood star busts will be his first in the United States. Admission is free.
