Man Arrested After Allegedly Making Threats on a Bus

The person claimed to have explosives, authorities say.

A person was taken into custody by Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputies on Friday after allegedly making threats on a bus.

The incident occurred at 4:45 p.m. when a man "was laying on the floor and was threatening that he had explosives," said Sgt. David Tateyama with the LASD's Transit Services Bureau.

The bus was traveling on Santa Monica Boulevard near Fairfax Avenue when the bus driver alerted police.

The person apparently had "some mental issues," Tateyama said.

The bus was evacuated, and the man was arrested.

No explosives were found, according to Tateyama.
