Makeshift Memorial Created for Homeless Man

A homeless individual known as Emory dies recently in Weho of natural causes.

A makeshift memorial appeared on a Santa Monica Boulevard lamp in West Hollywood post this week in honor of a homeless man who recently passed away near Five Guys Burgers & Fries.

Though a note taped to the lamp post says the man, known only as Emory, died Saturday, Sgt. Lance Eddins of the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station confirmed the department found an unidentified homeless man who apparently died of natural causes Monday with no signs of foul play.

The handwritten note taped to the lamp post that accompanied a bouquet of fresh flowers on the sidewalk read, "He was a person. He had a name."

The county recently completed its biannual census of the homeless population that included a team of Weho volunteers and deputies counting local homeless individuals.
