Halloween revelers dressed as dazzling drag queens, uncanny pop stars and even Occupy Wall Street for the ultimate costume party in West Hollywood Monday night.
The city's attracted an elbow-to-elbow crowd to Santa Monica Boulevard. An estimated 500,000 poured into restaurants, bars and nightclubs from La Cienega Boulevard to Doheny Drive.
"What started out as a bunch of gay men in drag stumbling in heels on Santa Monica Boulevard in Boystown has become the largest Halloween Carnaval in the world," Mayor John Duran said in a city statement.
This year's entertainment featured six stages of live music, from show tunes and burlesque genres to avant-garde dance, and a handful of DJs.
A Los Angeles County Fire Department official reported no major incidents at the Carnaval, City News Service said. Firefighters responded to 16 medical calls and four non-medical calls, the official said.
