Friday's Scoop: Royal Visit Means Heightened Security Around LA

Greetings, and welcome to today's City Scoop. Here's what's happening Friday in West Hollywood:

Main Event: Royals Visit LA

Law enforcement from the U.S. State Department and the LAPD will be cracking down on the paparazzi this weekend, reported the LA Times. The Duke and Duchess will arrive in Los Angeles early Friday evening and head to the  hotel, staying overnight at the British Consul-General's residence in Hancock Park. The royal couple's entourage includes private security, plainclothes cops from the LAPD Elite Metro division, and CHP officers, said TMZ. Let's hope this doesn't affect traffic.

Other Happenings:

•  presents a signing and lecture session of , written by Gabrielle Donnelly, at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to all.
• DJ Jeremy Dawson of Shiny Toy Guns and Taryn Manning will perform at , 7 p.m. at the , with proceeds benefiting cancer research. General admission tickets cost $35.
• GLAAD presents Thank GLAAD It’s Friday, the national networking event series for young LGBT professionals and straight allies, featuring Absolut Vodka, from 7-9 p.m. at . Event tickets are $20. 

The Forecast:

• The National Weather Service predicts another mostly sunny day, with a high near 86. Fog will roll in after 11 p.m. and temperatures will drop to around 62.
