Sleep apnea, a condition usually linked to overweight and older individuals, has had for a long time only basic treatments. The CPAP mask, which pumps pressurized air through a face mask and bedside pump has been criticized for being cumbersome and loud.
Luckily, new treatments for sleep apnea have been in development. They include light nasal attachments, devices that suck the tongue forward, and surgical implants that deliver stimulation to a nerve near the base of the tongue.
