Going Back to School, Virtually, at Capistrano Connections Academy

Aliso Viejo, Calif. (Sept. 6, 2013) – Thousands of students in Southern California are heading back to class this fall by logging in from the comfort of their homes, including more than 2,000 K-12 students enrolled in Capistrano Connections Academy. This year, students enrolled in Capistrano Connections Academy, a K-12 tuition-free virtual public school serving students who reside in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties, will have access to new online Career Technical Education (CTE) courses for students interested in gaining career-specific knowledge in the 2013-2014 school year.

Connections Academy’s CTE courses offer students a chance to explore careers and fields of study with engaging multimedia content, personalized study guides, interactive exercises, and more. In addition to the new CTE course offerings, Capistrano Connections Academy’s personalized learning approach allows teachers to tailor instruction and pace based on each student’s skill level and needs. Students and teachers work together to develop a personalized learning plan and adjust it as needed throughout the course of the year. Teachers deliver Connections Academy’s high-quality and innovative curriculum through LiveLessons® sessions—live instruction conducted online—and work with students one-on-one to provide additional instruction, answer questions and offer any other support the student needs to succeed. The highly accountable online program engages a student’s parent or other adult as their Learning Coach, who works to monitor academic progress in the home.
