“KICKING AMERICA’S ASS: 50 STATES. IN 50 DAYS. TO SHOOT 50 MOVIES.” KICKS OFF ON THURSDAY, JUNE 14
Los Angeles, California, April 15, 2012 – Sandy Murray and Stephen Gillikin return with web series “Kicking America’s Ass” along with a new twist: to visit 50 states, in 50 days, to shoot 50 movies. The humorous duo will explore the entire United States, with two additional cast members/crew, to challenge their creativity, teamwork, organization skills, and physical ability to actually travel to 50 states in 50 days. Throughout the documentary web series, the group will visit random eateries, roadside attractions, factories, and more, to shoot each short film.
Sandy, Stephen, and many of their friends graduated from film school and regularly partake in travel adventures, so the choice for their first large-scale project was clear.
Each of the 50, 10-minute episodes will start with an introduction to the short film that will be shot on location. Viewers will then follow the group as they travel, find shooting locations, work together, shoot a short film, and find lodging in each state. The group will be using a Canon GL to shoot the short films, and a long list of HD equipment for the documentary portion of the web series. Alaska and Hawaii will be traveled to via aircraft, and the other 48 states via Toyota Corolla. Traveling by car for months at a time, working and eating with a tight budget, creating projects on deadlines, and sleeping on friends and families couches will be nerve wracking. When asked about the probability of the completion of the project, Sandy Murray stated, “I have complete confidence in myself, and the group I’ve assembled, to complete the project, and to complete it well. Whether or not we strangle each other throughout this project is another story.”
“Kicking America’s Ass: 50 States. In 50 Days. To Shoot 50 Movies.” is produced by Sandy Murray. The group is currently raising money for the project at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1112776726/kicking-americas-ass-50-states-50-days-50-movies?ref=live
