Laurel Celebrates 100 Years With Middle School Dance

West Hollywood's only public middle school held its first annual Laurel Middle School Dance on Thursday afternoon.

Students celebrated and danced with Emcee Rory Pollinger of You Should Be Dancing. The spirit of St. Patrick's day was present without the spirits, and Disco was alive and well in the young toe tappers.

The opening of the first middle school in West Hollywood converges with Laurel Elementary School's celebration of its 100th year. The new entity is a K - 8 Span School.

Community support contributes to Laurel School's rising scores while it educates all of the children in a neighborhood with a preponderance of schools that exclude English language learners and special education students.

It takes “the whole village” to fill the financial need of an all-inclusive, quality public school in the brave, new world of charter, magnet and private schools. Resourceful Laurel parents, undaunted by gloom-and-doom budget cuts are determined to give their children the quality public school education that they remember.
