for Girls, PS #1,and Westside Neighborhood School. Lisa’s experience has
 given her an understanding of what schools are looking for and enables 
her to help parents navigate the admissions process from an insider’s 
point of view. Lisa has been helping families with the admission process
 for over 20 years. She is a former steering committee member of ESAD 
(Elementary School Admission Directors). Lisa has helped hundreds of 
students and their families find their perfect school.

This annual fundraiser is crucial to the success of The Center's staff and clients, since funds raised from hike sponsorships and donations go 100% to support privately funded programs such as:&nbsp;<ul><li>Housing retention case management </li><li>Primary care at the On-Site Clinic</li><li>Day Center &amp; Community Wellness Programming</li><li>Substance Use Recovery Programming</li><li>Mail Service and phone charging for over 400 unhoused people</li></ul>
<h3>Registration starts at 7:00am, rally starts at 8:30am, hike starts at 9:00am.</h3>
This year, our dear friends at <a href="https://obetanddels.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Obet &amp; Del's</a> will be joining us with complimentary coffee before the hike! The 2024 Virtual Esophageal Cancer Walk/Run event can take place in your neighborhood, on a trail, bike path, track, by the ocean, sea, river or wherever you would like to walk or run.
Participants can also bicycle, rollerblade, skateboard, swim, the possibilities are endless! Since the virtual event is not timed, you are able to participate at your own pace, any distance and at any time either Saturday or Sunday.

Learn the facts about esophageal cancer:
-Esophageal cancer has increased over 733% in the past four decades and is considered the fastest growing cancer in the US and western world.
-Risk factors include:
<ul><li>Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD, acid reflux, chronic heartburn),</li></ul>
<ul><li>obesity,</li></ul>
<ul><li>poor nutrition,</li></ul>
<ul><li>tobacco use,</li></ul>
<ul><li>excessive alcohol use,</li></ul>
<ul><li>Barrett’s esophagus.</li></ul>
-As one of the deadliest cancers, esophageal cancer has an overall 5-year survival rate of only 21.7%.
-There are no routine or standard screenings to improve early detection of esophageal cancer.
-Symptoms often arise late, once the cancer is considered advanced or “distant” (spread to lymph nodes and other organs.)
-Stage IV esophageal cancer has a survival rate of only 5.6%.
-Despite these facts, esophageal cancer research is extremely underfunded.
