The future of luxury interior design will be the topic of a panel discussion held May 3 at the Pacific Design Center. Architecture author Michael Webb will moderate the discussion, “Luxury by Land and by Sea,” that will focus on interior design trends for upscale hotels and resorts as well as super yachts. Apt2B, a home furnishings website, will have a brick and mortar location for the month of May in the space which housed the just closed Alpha men's fashion boutique on Melrose Avenue.
Melrose Avenue will see a series of pop-up stores in the coming months. Darren Gold, who founded Alpha, a men’s fashion boutique which closed earlier this month, will transform the space into a revolving line-up of “Alpha presents” pop-up stores throughout the summer. First up is Apt2B, an LA-based online furniture, design, and housewares store aimed at young, career-oriented, urban dwellers. The average price of gasoline in the greater Los Angeles area dropped seven cents to 4.27 per gallon of self-serve regular over the past two weeks and the price of gas nationwide may have peaked, according to a national survey of gas prices. The U.S. average retail price of regular grade gas increased 3.7 cents to just under 3.97 per gallon as of Friday, the smallest increase since early January, said Trilby Lundberg of the Lundberg Survey, which monitors prices at 2,500 retailers. "There's been great variety in what was going on around the country with some sizeable price hikes and several declines, especially in the Midwest and West," Lundberg said Monday. Hollywood Life reports DASH, their fashion boutique in Calabasas, is moving to a spot at 8420 Melrose Avenue. Kim Kardashian told WWD that fashion has always come first. Proposed "promoter's venue license" would allow West Hollywood bars, clubs and restaurants to bring in any promoter they want, rather than just promoters who are licensed with the city.
An ordinance set to go before City Council later this spring could give West Hollywood nightclubs, bars and restaurants more flexibility in hiring event promoters. It has long been mandatory for a promoter working in the City of West Hollywood to obtain a "promoter's license," essentially a business license to operate on behalf of Weho's bars and nightclubs. For promoters who do multiple events in the city, paying the $300 fee and submitting to a background check and fingerprinting is worthwhile.
