Pho Citi Wants to Serve 20-Pho-7 in Weho
The restaurant's owners have always-open locations in other cities and have applied for a permit for their Santa Monica Boulevard one.
Pho Citi, a Vietnamese restaurant on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, wants to serve its food around the clock.
The owners already operate 24-hour Pho Citi locations in Silver Lake, Burbank, Glendale and Westwood and have applied for a permit for the Weho one. They are scheduled to present their case to the city during a public hearing Dec. 14 at 5 p.m.
"Fight pho your right to 24-hour pho!" a statement on the company's website said. The owners are asking residents to attend the hearing to show support.
"Attendees will have a chance to voice their desire for twenty-PHO-seven access to delicious Vietnamese cuisine. Weho residents will have more clout in their demands, so we'd especially appreciate locals coming out!" the website said.
Currently, Pho Citi is open daily from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. On Friday's and Saturday's it's open until 3 a.m.
There are public safety, health and economic benefits to having Pho Citi stay open 24 hours in West Hollywood, the statement said.
A 24-hour permit would require Pho Citi to provide security. "So the extended operation hours wouldn't create a strain on the Weho police department," it said.
If the business is open 24 hours, it would allow revelers to sober up before heading home. "Don't we want to keep inebriated drivers off our roads?" the website said.
"Obesity is rampant in America. Let's offer residents access to healthy, late-night options."
