Critical Missing Arizona Teen Found in Plummer Park

Eli Rabago, 19, is reunited with his family nine days after going missing. He is discovered sleeping near the tennis courts in Plummer Park.

A 19-year-old Tuscon man with developmental disabilities, missing since Feb. 26, was found by a deputy in Tuesday.

According to a Los Angeles County Sheriff's report, Eli Rabago's family believed he had left his grandparents’ home in Arizona because he was anxious about an upcoming test and was worried about his terminally-ill grandfather. Rabago had recently learned how to use bus transportation.

Family members distributed approximately 2,000 fliers in the Tucson area with information about his disappearance, according to the report.

On Tuesday, a Sheriff’s deputy conducting a foot patrol at Plummer Park contacted a man sleeping near the tennis courts. A wanted persons check of the man made on the deputy’s mobile computer revealed he was Rabago.

"Eli told the deputy he had hopped a train from Arizona to Los Angeles and had been in California for about one week. Once in the Los Angeles area, he showered at youth centers and ate from local food lines," Sgt. Arthur Famble wrote in the report.

Pima County Sheriff’s Department deputies in Arizona were advised, as was Rabago's mother. She and her husband flew to California and were reunited with their son at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station Tuesday afternoon.
