Mama Opening in Former O-Bar Location

Manhattan cabaret and piano bar Don't Tell Mama is slated to open in the old O-Bar location in Weho's Center City.

Don't ask and don't tell, but gay piano bars may not be dead after all.

Eater LA reports that Manhattan cabaret and piano bar Don’t Tell Mama will open a West Coast branch in the space which previously housed in West Hollywood’s Center City.

That space at 8279 Santa Monica Boulevard (at Sweetzer Avenue) has been empty since July 2011 when the eight-year-old O-Bar abruptly closed for a remodel and never reopened.

The Mama’s Manhattan location, located on 343 West 46th Street, offers dinner and a show with an American menu. No word on whether it will offer the same menu here.

Don’t Tell Mama is slated to open in November according to Eater LA.

The Los Angeles area has been without a gay piano bar since June 2012 when after more than 40 years in business.
