John D'Amico Wins Weho City Council Seat

Former planning commissioner D'Amico wins enough votes to unseat Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath as Abbe Land and John Heilman are re-elected.

Supporters of John D'Amico gathered at West Hollywood Park auditorium Tuesday night after results showed he came in second place in the City Council election.  

There were a total of nine candidates vying for three seats on the City Council. 

The final, but , results showed Councilwoman  came in first with 2,548 ballots, followed by D'Amico with 2,471 and Mayor with 2,359.

D'Amico won enough votes to unseat Councilwoman who was appointed in 2009 after the death of longtime Councilman Sal Guariello. 

The West Hollywood city clerk said there were a total of 5,346 votes that were cast in the election, and 930 provisional and absentee ballots still need to be counted.

The votes are scheduled to be certified at the March 21 City Council meeting. The new council will be sworn in at the same time.
