West Hollywood Patch: How would you describe your music in your own words?

Sarah Agajanian: I am going to go with Alternative-Rock-Soul on the keys with a haunting, but uplifting twist. My music is written from my heart and emotional experiences. My music reflects on my personal journey and also society as a whole. I am a poet as well, and that transcends into my songs.

Patch: When did you decide to become a musician?

Agajanian: I have been into music since I discovered the piano at 6 and couldn’t get enough. Classic rock won my soul when I was a pre-teen. The Doors wiped me out and Led Zeppelin doesn’t get any sweeter. I am obsessed with the Woodstock era and somehow believe I am reincarnated from that time period of revolution and music.

Patch: Where are your favorite venues in West Hollywood to perform?

Agajanian: I love me some West Hollywood Sunset Boulevard. is a dream and has an iconic reputation with great stage and sound. soothes my soul, and has been very very kind to me, and has a very loving vibe for all musicians. is a venue I can not wait to tackle.

Patch: Do you have any pre-performance rituals before you go on stage?

Agajanian: Once I’ve got the makeup and hair done, I start focusing on my energy and try to get into the zone. I pump Florence and the Machine and dance around the house before I get in the car, run my vocal exercises, drink my tea and get ready for the transformation. Lastly, I'll put my fingerless gloves on, hit a shot of whiskey or two, and it's rock 'n roll.

Patch: What does your typical stage show consist of?

Agajanian: At the moment, it's a solo act with me and the keys. Sometimes I'll bring up a guitarist and cover at least one hit song. I am now morphing into building my sound and I am searching for electric guitar and violin along with drums, of course. I make sure to keep a sense of humor, because we all need to laugh sometimes. Eventually, I envision performance art. I want the audience to escape from reality and enter my world of imagination.

Patch: What's your favorite song you've ever written and what is it about?

Agajanian: Well, I am not sure if I have a favorite song that I’ve written. I love them all so much. They’re almost like my children. But if I had to pick, “Dreamer” is at the top for me. I am a big dreamer and believe in the whisper that is spoken to you through your dreams. The song is about the recognition I had when I realized I was living my dreams.

Patch: When you are not singing, what other hobbies are you into?

Agajanian: When I am not singing or playing, I am writing poetry, painting color on canvas, sketching, practicing yoga, and or dancing. I am an artist and have accepted this within myself and I try to keep the river flowing.

Patch: What do you like most about being a musican?

Agajanian: I love the universal power that music has. It is the ultimate form of artistic expression. No matter what your race, culture, gender or sexuality, music erases all judgment and ego and what you have is a bunch of musicians on stage being human, being alive. And I myself like to live.
