Cool Off with 'Afternoon Tea on Ice' at The Boxwood Cafe

This summer, The London is offering a twist on its classic tea.

This summer, step off busy Sunset Boulevard and into the for "Afternoon Tea on Ice" at the .

Served in their stylish dining room with a stunning view of the city, their high tea is a lavish affair with a twist. Intead of the usual hot tea, guests may enjoy iced tea to cool off from the summer heat. The mix of diners usually includes locals, hotel guests, and visitors to the hotel.

"There's something very feminine about high tea," said local Charlotte Koh, a member of a women's group that gathers a few times a year for high tea. "I love the intention of having relaxed conversation over tea."

The Boxwood Cafe's high tea service includes tea and tiered trays of tasty delights, featuring elegant tea sandwiches (smoked salmon and cucumber, curried chicken with golden raisins, black brioche, asparagus and cured ham), tea pastries, petit cakes, and tarts. Hot tea is also available for the traditionalists.

"I really loved the London's modern take on afternoon tea," said Toronto resident and food blogger Jennifer Hoffmeister. "From the gorgeous yet minimalist room, to the modern flower arrangements to the simple and elegant china, it was exactly what I'd expect at afternoon tea from a Los Angeles hotel. Paired with delicious food and views, it makes for a great LA experience."

The price is $28 per person, with champagne offered for a surcharge. High tea is available 2:30-4:30 p.m. Reservations are suggested.

While the Boxwood Cafe is the only restuarant in West Hollywood that serves high tea, other nearby options include the more subdued and cozy Chado Tea Room on 3rd Street and the modernist take at Treo at the SLS Hotel on La Cienega Boulevard.
